So there have been a few updates since the last one. Most of you have already seen the stuff on my facebook page. Yes, Rusty's stuff had finally come in, so as promised we decided to grab my twin brother Geoff (Our photographer for most of it) and our father to get some pictures of us. Of course I decided to take it a step further, creating something of a story to explain how Rain, the Fantastic Minstrel of Doncaster, met Tobias Wren in order to provide some context behind why his character joined mine at the con.
The first location of our shoot was the Wagnalls Memorial Library, in Lithopolis Ohio. (Close to Canal Winchester, which is just south of Columbus, Ohio.) Wagnalls is pretty close to my brother and I's hearts. We went to elementary school in Lithopolis, and our grandmother worked there as a librarian. Add to that we would attend cub scout meetings that used a room in it's basement, and all that, so suffice to say, we did time here. Lots of it. Of course Wagnalls is having a bit of trouble keeping its doors open by being a library alone, so they need to supplement their income through various other ways. So if you want to see something a little different in the cornfields and forests, feel free to slide on over to their website below and learn about it, book a tour. Or just donate a few dollars to their website. You could learn more about them here.
The second location of our shoot was a little place just south of Lancaster near Logan Ohio called Old Man's Cave. We were short on time and daylight, so we didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked, but we did get everything we needed.
And of course for our final picture of the night, there happens to be a sign that I pass every day on my way home from work, so since I still had my costume on, I decided to capitalize on the moment and do something I've been wanting to do for a long time, just for the folks on the Beyond Skyrim discord.
So that's that. And of course before the first picture was even taken, we had been taking steps towards another goal back in the Colossalcon facebook pages.
After weeks of sifting through people, we finally managed to get the two people we needed to help split the costs for our hotel room on the facebook Colossalcon Room and Rides group. It was something that took longer than it should have, because we kept having people disappear on us in mid conversation before we could get final confirmation, which of course meant we had to spend time leaving others pending for a response, but we finally managed to get two people besides Rusty and I. With one hailing as far as Vancouver, Canada.
Oh, and uh, if anyone wants to know what that pillow fort thing is about, two years ago, I managed to acquire a room on Saturday night at the Kalahari by taking advantage of a canceled reservation (There's a survival tactic for those of you who may find themselves room-less), I basically had an entire two bed room to myself, so I did want any sensible grown adult would do. Build the world's most epic pillow fort! And it was a two room fort with an antichamber, and enough room for five people to comfortably sleep, but sadly I couldn't get any of my friends to witness my craftsmanship for themselves. I have officially named it Fort Forever-Alone. But that's neither here nor there.
So, we are two weeks away from the con. Or seven work days for me, thanks to Memorial Day being given off to us at work. (Although that means that I will only have a two day work week before the con, so the week after that is going to hurt financially since temps don't get paid for holidays of time off.)
The road leading up to the con is nearly over, friends. And I'm grateful for everyone who has given us positive attention, and taken up interest in our pre-convention adventure prep blogs. It's time to sharpen our swords, and quest with and for others, yet again. Let's make Colossalcon 2019 an epic one, shall we?
Oh, there is one more picture... But you won't be meeting this one until Matsuricon.
